What's new cloud? Amazon EKS
No, it's not DeepSeek, but Amazon EKS Now Offers More Flexible Update Strategies for Managed Node Groups.
Let me explain.
Managed node groups now have new update strategies, giving you more control over how Amazon EC2 instances in your clusters are updated.
The goal is to make updates simpler while cutting down on operational headaches and keeping compute costs in check.
You can stick with the current Default update strategy or switch to the new Minimal Capacity option.
What’s cool about Minimal Capacity is that it updates node groups by launching fewer new EC2 instances compared to the Default approach.
This comes in super handy if your managed node groups are scaled to zero, rely on high-demand or limited-availability instances, or use reserved capacity, like GPU-accelerated instances.
By default, everything will still run as it always has with the Default update strategy, but now you've got the flexibility to choose what works best for your setup.
